Description

This Air Fryer Buffalo Cauliflower recipe features crispy, spicy cauliflower florets tossed in a flavorful hot sauce and cooked to perfection in an air fryer. A delicious, healthier alternative to traditional buffalo wings, perfect as a snack or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale

Sauce

  • 1/3 cup hot sauce, such as Frank’s RedHot or Cholula
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Cauliflower

  • 1 medium head cauliflower (1 1/2 to 2 pounds), cut into 1 1/2- to 2-inch florets (about 5 cups)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce: In a large bowl, whisk together 1/3 cup hot sauce and 2 tablespoons olive oil until well combined. Add the cauliflower florets and toss thoroughly to coat each piece evenly with the sauce.
  2. Coat the cauliflower: In a second large bowl, combine 1/4 cup all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup cornstarch, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, and 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt. Use a slotted spoon or your hands to transfer the coated cauliflower from the sauce bowl into the dry mixture, leaving excess sauce behind. Toss the cauliflower with your hands or spoon until fully coated in the flour mixture.
  3. Heat the air fryer: Preheat your 5 1/2-quart (or larger) air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  4. Air fry the cauliflower: Arrange the coated cauliflower florets in an even layer in the air fryer basket or tray, allowing slight overlap if necessary. Air fry the cauliflower, shaking or tossing every 5 minutes to promote even cooking, until the florets are crispy, hot, and lightly browned, about 15 to 20 minutes total.

Notes

  • Make ahead: Cut cauliflower into florets up to 3 days in advance and store in the refrigerator.
  • Storage: Keep leftover buffalo cauliflower in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
  • For extra crispiness, lightly spray the coated cauliflower with cooking spray before air frying.
  • Adjust amount of hot sauce according to your preferred spice level.
