Description

Boonanas are a fun and festive frozen banana treat perfect for Halloween. These ghost-shaped frozen bananas are coated in vanilla yogurt and decorated with mini chocolate chips to create cute ghost faces. They make a tasty and healthy snack for kids and adults alike, perfect for parties or a cool summer dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 2 large bananas
  • 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
  • 24 mini chocolate chips
  • 8 popsicle sticks

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bananas: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a Silpat mat. Peel the bananas and cut each banana in half. Slice each half crosswise to yield 8 pieces in total. Carefully insert a popsicle stick into the bottom of each banana piece, then place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  2. Freeze the bananas: Place the banana pieces in the freezer for 30 minutes to 1 hour until they are completely frozen.
  3. Dip in yogurt: Pour the vanilla yogurt into a tall glass. Dip each frozen banana piece into the yogurt to coat the entire piece. Place the coated banana back onto the baking sheet.
  4. Add the ghost faces: Place 3 mini chocolate chips on each yogurt-coated banana to create two eyes and a mouth, forming the ghost face. Repeat this until all banana pieces are decorated.
  5. Freeze again: Return the decorated bananas to the freezer for 20 more minutes to set.
  6. Serve and store: Enjoy these frozen ghost bananas immediately, or store them in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 months.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm bananas for best texture and ease of slicing.
  • Vanilla yogurt adds sweetness and creaminess, but you can substitute with any flavored or non-dairy yogurt.
  • Mini chocolate chips work well for eyes and mouths—avoid larger chips as they might be too heavy for the banana pieces.
  • Make sure the bananas are fully frozen before dipping to help the yogurt adhere better.
  • Store leftovers in a single layer in a freezer-safe container to prevent sticking together.
