Description

Delicious and indulgent Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats combining the classic crispy cereal with creamy peanut butter, melted marshmallows, and tasty peanut butter cups and cookies. Perfect for a fun dessert or snack that’s easy to prepare and sure to satisfy sweet cravings.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 10 ounces mini marshmallows
  • 1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 5 cups rice cereal
  • 1 cup marshmallows

Toppings and Garnish

  • 6 peanut butter cups
  • 8-12 mini Nutter Butter cookies
  • Reese’s Pieces for garnish

Instructions

  1. Melt Butter and Marshmallows: In a large saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium-low heat. Add 10 ounces of mini marshmallows and stir continuously until completely melted and smooth.
  2. Add Peanut Butter: Stir in 1/3 cup of creamy peanut butter into the melted marshmallow mixture. Remove the saucepan from heat once fully incorporated.
  3. Combine with Cereal: Add 5 cups of rice cereal to the marshmallow and peanut butter mixture. Stir well to ensure all the cereal is coated evenly. Then add 1 cup of marshmallows and stir again until combined.
  4. Layer the Treats: Lightly grease a 9×9 inch baking dish. Press half of the cereal mixture into the bottom of the dish. Arrange 6 peanut butter cups and 8-12 mini Nutter Butter cookies evenly over this layer.
  5. Add Top Layer and Garnish: Spread the remaining cereal mixture over the peanut butter cups and cookies. Gently press Reese’s Pieces on top for garnish.
  6. Cool and Serve: Allow the treats to cool in the baking dish for 1 hour so they set properly. Once cooled, cut into 12 squares and serve.

Notes

  • Use unsalted butter to control the saltiness of the treat, but salted butter can be substituted if preferred.
  • For easier cutting, lightly grease the knife or use a plastic knife to prevent sticking.
  • Press the Reese’s Pieces gently to avoid crushing the cereal mixture.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
  • If mini marshmallows aren’t available, regular marshmallows chopped into smaller pieces can be used.
