Description

Christmas Magic Layer Brownie Bars blend rich brownie base with layers of nuts, chocolate chips, holiday M&Ms, coconut, and sweetened condensed milk, creating a festive and indulgent dessert perfect for holiday celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale

Brownie Layer

  • 1½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup salted butter (1 stick)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Toppings Layer

  • ¾ cup nuts, optional, divided
  • ¼ cup mini holiday M&Ms, divided
  • ¾ cup regular holiday M&Ms, divided
  • ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided
  • 1 cup sweetened flaked coconut
  • ¾ cup sweetened condensed milk (from a 14 ounce can)
  • ¼ cup holiday sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 9-inch baking pan with foil or parchment paper and spray it with nonstick cooking spray to ensure easy removal.
  2. Melt Chocolate and Butter: Place the butter and semi-sweet chocolate chips in a large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 30 seconds, then stir. Continue microwaving in 30 second intervals, stirring between each, until the mixture is melted and smooth.
  3. Mix Brownie Batter: Beat in the granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and eggs into the chocolate mixture until well combined. Then gently stir in the all-purpose flour until just combined, taking care not to overmix.
  4. Bake Brownie Base: Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 20 minutes. The brownies will jiggle slightly but should be set on the top.
  5. Add Toppings: Remove the brownies from the oven and layer on top the nuts (if using), half of the semi-sweet chocolate chips, half of the mini and regular holiday M&Ms, and all of the sweetened flaked coconut evenly.
  6. Pour Condensed Milk: Evenly pour the sweetened condensed milk over the layered toppings and spread gently to distribute it evenly.
  7. Finish Toppings: Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips, mini holiday M&Ms, regular holiday M&Ms, and holiday sprinkles over the top.
  8. Bake Again: Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set and beginning to brown. If the top is browning too quickly, tent the pan loosely with aluminum foil.
  9. Cool and Slice: Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before carefully removing and cutting into squares with a sharp knife.
  10. Store: Store the brownie bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.

Notes

  • Refrigerate: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week, or in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Use parchment paper between layers to prevent sticking.
  • Freeze: For longer storage, lift the brownies out of the pan, wrap them tightly with plastic wrap and aluminum foil, and freeze for up to 3 months. Individual squares can also be wrapped for convenient treats. Thaw at room temperature for an hour before eating.
  • Optional Nuts: Nuts add texture and flavor but can be omitted or substituted with your favorite nuts depending on preference or allergies.
  • Nonstick Spray: Using nonstick spray or lining the pan with foil/parchment ensures easy removal and cleaner cuts.
