Description

Dollywood Bread is a sweet, pull-apart cinnamon bread inspired by the famous treat from Dollywood theme park. This loaf features a soft, buttery bread dough coated generously in cinnamon sugar and topped with a light glaze, making it an irresistible snack or dessert perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

For the bread:

  • 1/2 Tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 lb. frozen bread dough, thawed
  • 4 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted

For the glaze:

  • 1 cup confectioner’s sugar, sifted
  • 3 Tbsp water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pan: Spray an 8 1⁄2 by 4 1⁄2 by 2 1⁄2-inch loaf pan with cooking spray and line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. Mix cinnamon sugar: In a shallow dish, combine 1/2 Tbsp cinnamon and 1/2 cup granulated sugar; set aside.
  3. Make slits in dough: Make 4 deep horizontal slits across the top of the thawed bread dough to create the signature pull-apart effect.
  4. Brush with butter: Generously brush the entire loaf with the melted butter, making sure to cover all crevices, sides, and the bottom. You can also dip the loaf into the butter for better coverage.
  5. Coat with cinnamon sugar: Roll the buttered loaf in the cinnamon-sugar mixture, ensuring the mixture fills all the slits and crevices.
  6. Rise the dough: Place the loaf in the prepared pan and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
  7. Bake: Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 35 minutes or until the top turns golden brown.
  8. Make the glaze: While the bread bakes, combine the sifted confectioner’s sugar and 3 Tbsp water in a small bowl. Stir until smooth and pourable.
  9. Cool and glaze: Remove the bread from the pan and let it cool on a wire rack. Drizzle the warm bread with glaze, then add more glaze after it cools completely for extra sweetness.

Notes

  • Using thawed frozen bread dough saves time compared to making dough from scratch.
  • The deep slits allow the cinnamon sugar and butter to penetrate, creating the pull-apart texture.
  • Make sure to be generous with the butter to keep the bread moist and flavorful.
  • Adjust the glaze consistency by adding more water for a thinner glaze or less for a thicker drizzle.
  • Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.
  • Can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
