Cookie Dough

Coating
- ¼ cup powdered sugar (32 g)
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch

- red heart-shaped sprinkles or cinnamon hearts
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Mix Dough: Using a hand-held or stand mixer, combine the white cake mix, softened unsalted butter, and eggs until well blended.
- Add Flavor and Color: Mix in peppermint or mint extract, vanilla extract, and green gel food coloring until combined on low speed. The dough will be thick and sticky.
- Prepare Coating: In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and cornstarch thoroughly.
- Form Cookies: Using a 1 1/2 tablespoon cookie scoop, scoop dough and roll each ball in the powdered sugar mixture to coat completely. Place cookies about 1 inch apart on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake: Bake for 12 minutes or until the edges are set and tops appear dry.
- Add Decoration: Immediately after removing from the oven, press a red heart-shaped sprinkle or cinnamon heart gently on top of each cookie to adhere.
- Cool: Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

- To freeze, cool cookies completely and store them in an airtight freezer-safe bag for up to 2 months. Thaw at room temperature or in the refrigerator overnight.
- For decoration, leftover Valentine’s Day heart sprinkles work well; alternatively, cinnamon hearts provide a flavorful punch and jumbo heart sprinkles offer a bold look.
