Description

Halloween Puppy Chow is a festive and delicious snack mix featuring crunchy Rice Chex cereal coated in a creamy chocolate and peanut butter mixture, dusted with powdered sugar, and mixed with colorful Halloween-themed candies. Perfect for parties or holiday treats, this easy no-bake recipe combines sweet and salty flavors with fun textures.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Chex Cereal
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Halloween Candy Mix-ins

  • ½ cup Reeses’ mini peanut butter cups
  • ½ cup M&M’s or other orange and black chocolate candy
  • ½ cup candy eyes
  • ½ cup candy corn

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cereal: Place 6 cups of Rice Chex Cereal into a large mixing bowl, setting the base for your puppy chow.
  2. Melt chocolate mixture: In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine 1 cup chocolate chips, ½ cup creamy peanut butter, and 2 tablespoons unsalted butter. Heat in the microwave for 1 minute, then stir until the mixture is completely melted and smooth.
  3. Coat the cereal: Pour the melted chocolate and peanut butter mixture over the Rice Chex Cereal. Gently stir the cereal until it is completely coated with the chocolate mixture.
  4. Add powdered sugar: Transfer the coated cereal into a large resealable plastic bag. Add 2 cups of powdered sugar into the bag, seal it tightly, and toss thoroughly until all the pieces are evenly coated with powdered sugar.
  5. Mix in Halloween candies: Remove the coated cereal from the bag and place it back into a large bowl. Add ½ cup Reeses’ mini peanut butter cups, ½ cup orange and black M&M’s, ½ cup candy eyes, and ½ cup candy corn. Stir gently to combine all the mix-ins evenly.
  6. Store properly: Transfer the Halloween Puppy Chow into an airtight container to keep it fresh until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Feel free to add any other Halloween candies you enjoy to customize your puppy chow for extra fun and flavor.
  • Store the puppy chow in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days to maintain freshness.
  • For longer storage, freeze the mixture in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months.
  • Use creamy peanut butter for best texture and coating performance.
  • Ensure the chocolate mixture is fully melted and smooth before coating the cereal for even coverage.
