Description

This Halloween Spider Web 7 Layer Dip is a festive and delicious appetizer perfect for parties. It features layers of seasoned refried beans, creamy guacamole, and a sour cream spider web design, topped with fresh tomato, cheese, olives, and green onions. Serve with warm tortilla chips for a spooky and tasty treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Layer Ingredients

  • 48 oz refried beans (three 16 oz cans)
  • 1/4 cup taco seasoning
  • 3 cups guacamole
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  • 4 green onions, chopped

For Serving

  • Warmed tortilla chips

Instructions

  1. Mix the Beans: In a medium bowl, thoroughly stir together the refried beans and taco seasoning until well combined.
  2. Layer the Beans: Spread the seasoned refried beans evenly into the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish, forming a uniform single layer.
  3. Add Guacamole: Spread the guacamole evenly over the refried bean layer to form the second layer of the dip.
  4. Create Spider Web: Using a squeeze bottle, piping bag, or a Ziploc bag with a snipped corner, pipe two perpendicular lines of sour cream across the guacamole layer, dividing the circle into four sections. Then pipe two more lines within each section to create a total of 16 sections. Next, pipe small half circles across each section to form the outer and inner rows of the web pattern.
  5. Garnish: Arrange the diced tomato, shredded cheese, sliced black olives, and chopped green onions evenly around the perimeter of the dip. For added Halloween fun, place a plastic spider in the center of the web design.
  6. Serve: Serve immediately with warmed tortilla chips for dipping.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh guacamole or make your own for extra flavor.
  • If you don’t have a piping bag, a clean Ziploc bag with the corner snipped works perfectly for piping sour cream.
  • Add jalapeños or hot sauce to the bean layer for a spicy kick.
  • Use a pie dish or any shallow round dish to better create the spider web design.
  • The dip can be assembled a few hours ahead and refrigerated, just pipe the sour cream web fresh before serving.
  • For a gluten-free option, ensure the tortilla chips are certified gluten-free.
