Meat and Seasonings
- 6-8 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3-4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp Kinders caramelized onion burger seasoning or any favorite burger seasoning
- 2 tsps Worcestershire sauce
Sauces and Condiments
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp dill pickle relish
- 1 tsp yellow or Dijon mustard
- 8 oz can of tomato sauce
Grains and Liquids
- 1 cup uncooked long grain white rice (Jasmine rice recommended)
- 2 1/4 cups beef broth
Cheese
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese or any preferred cheese
Instructions
- Cook Bacon: In a large pot over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving about 1 teaspoon of bacon grease in the pot.
- Cook Beef and Aromatics: Add the ground beef, diced onion, and minced garlic to the pot. Cook until the beef is browned and onions are softened. Drain any excess grease from the pot.
- Season: Stir in the caramelized onion burger seasoning and Worcestershire sauce. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes to blend the flavors.
- Add Tomato Paste: Mix in the tomato paste and cook for another 1 to 2 minutes to deepen the flavor.
- Add Condiments and Tomato Sauce: Stir in the dill pickle relish, mustard, and the tomato sauce until well combined.
- Add Rice and Broth: Pour in the uncooked rice and beef broth. Stir to combine all ingredients then bring to a boil.
- Simmer: Reduce heat to low and cover the pot. Let simmer for 20 minutes or until the rice is tender and has absorbed most of the liquid.
- Add Cheese and Bacon: Remove the pot from heat. Stir in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese and the reserved crispy bacon. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top of the dish.
- Melt Cheese: Cover the pot again and let it sit for 3 to 5 minutes so the cheese melts and becomes gooey.
- Serve: Serve the bacon cheeseburger rice hot and enjoy your comforting one-pot meal.
