Description

A fun and festive Oreo Spiders recipe perfect for Halloween or any spooky-themed party. These adorable treats are made by decorating Peanut Butter Oreo cookies with pretzel legs and Reese’s Pieces eyes using melted dark chocolate.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 24 Peanut Butter Oreo Cookies
  • 1 cup Dark Chocolate Chips (170 grams)
  • 96 Pretzel Sticks, halved
  • 24 Reese’s Pieces Candies, halved

Instructions

  1. Prepare the base: Place the 24 Peanut Butter Oreo cookies on a large, parchment-lined baking sheet to create the spider bodies.
  2. Melt the chocolate: Pour 1 cup of dark chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 45 seconds. Stir well and reheat in 10-15 second increments as needed, stirring after each until fully melted.
  3. Attach spider legs: Dip the ends of four pretzel stick halves into the melted chocolate and press gently into the side of one Oreo cookie. Repeat with four more halves on the opposite side of the Oreo to create eight legs per spider.
  4. Add the eyes: Use a toothpick to spread melted chocolate onto the cut sides of two matching Reese’s Pieces halves. Place them, cut side down, onto the top of each Oreo to form the spider eyes. Do this for all 24 spiders.
  5. Set the legs: Allow the pretzel legs to firm up in the Oreos. If not set, refrigerate the baking sheet for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Coat the pretzel feet: Reheat the chocolate if necessary to keep it melted. Dip the bottom of the pretzel legs on each side into the melted chocolate, creating spider feet, then place the Oreos back on the baking sheet.
  7. Final cooling: Let the spiders cool and set fully for about 30 minutes at room temperature or 15 minutes in the refrigerator before serving.

Notes

  • If dark chocolate is not preferred, semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips can be used as alternatives.
  • To speed up setting time, refrigerate the assembled spiders but avoid leaving them too long to prevent condensation.
  • For added decoration, edible markers or additional candies can be used to customize spider faces.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator to keep pretzels crisp.
  • Ensure pretzel sticks are cut evenly to maintain consistent leg length for better appearance.
