Description

Delightful and easy-to-make Prosciutto Wrapped Mozzarella Bites featuring marinated mozzarella balls, fresh basil leaves, and savory prosciutto, finished with a drizzle of balsamic glaze. Perfect for appetizers or party snacks.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 4 ounce package sliced prosciutto, sliced in half lengthwise
  • 20 marinated mozzarella balls, 12 ounce container
  • 20 leaves fresh basil
  • Balsamic glaze, as needed (such as Nonna Pia’s or Trader Joe’s)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Ingredients: Cut the prosciutto slices in half lengthwise. Drain the mozzarella balls in a colander, pour them onto a double layer of paper towels, and pat them dry to remove excess moisture.
  2. Assemble the Bites: Place a halved slice of prosciutto on a cutting board or work surface. Add a basil leaf (fold over if large) on one end of the prosciutto, then place a mozzarella ball on top of the basil leaf.
  3. Roll and Secure: Roll up the prosciutto tightly around the basil and mozzarella ball. Insert a wooden cocktail pick through the center of the roll to hold everything together securely.
  4. Finish and Serve: Just before serving, drizzle each prosciutto wrapped mozzarella bite with a little balsamic glaze for added flavor and presentation.

Notes

  • Use paper towels to thoroughly dry the mozzarella balls to prevent sogginess.
  • Fold larger basil leaves for easier wrapping and better fit inside the prosciutto.
  • Balsamic glaze adds a tangy sweetness; you can substitute with a balsamic reduction or skip if preferred.
  • This appetizer is best served fresh but can be prepared a few hours ahead and refrigerated.
  • Wooden cocktail picks help keep the bites intact and make serving easy.
