Description

Slow Cooker Honey BBQ Beef Brisket is a tender, flavorful dish cooked low and slow in a sweet and tangy honey BBQ sauce. With a perfect blend of spices and a rich homemade sauce, this recipe delivers a melt-in-your-mouth brisket that’s ideal for hearty dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale

Brisket and Seasoning

  • 1 medium-large beef brisket, about 5 pounds
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Honey BBQ Sauce

  • ½ cup ketchup
  • ½ cup molasses
  • 4 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ⅓ cup apple cider vinegar

Thickening Mixture

  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Prepare the slow cooker and brisket: Lightly grease your slow cooker and place the beef brisket inside. This prevents sticking and allows even cooking.
  2. Make the BBQ sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together ketchup, molasses, honey, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and apple cider vinegar. Set the sauce aside for later use.
  3. Season the brisket: Mix garlic powder, chili powder, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl. Rub this seasoning blend evenly all over the brisket to build flavor.
  4. Cook the brisket: Pour the prepared honey BBQ sauce over the seasoned brisket. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 10 hours until the brisket is tender and easily shreddable.
  5. Make the thickened sauce: After cooking, carefully pour the liquid from the slow cooker into a large saucepan. Bring it to a boil over medium-high heat. Stir the cornstarch into cold water until fully dissolved, then slowly add this mixture to the boiling sauce. Reduce heat to medium-low and stir continuously until the sauce thickens. Remove the sauce from heat.
  6. Shred and serve: Use two forks to shred the beef brisket inside the slow cooker. Pour the thickened sauce back over the shredded beef, stir well to combine, and serve hot for a delicious meal.

Notes

  • The sauce can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator until ready to use, saving preparation time on the day of cooking.
  • For even better flavor, allow the brisket to rest covered for 15-30 minutes after cooking before shredding.
  • If you prefer a thicker or thinner sauce, adjust the cornstarch amount accordingly.
  • Serve with classic sides like coleslaw, baked beans, or cornbread for a complete meal.
